What are spatial methods?

Spatial methods refer to a variety of techniques based on spatial theories and principles and employed across different disciplines, including geospatial analysis, urban studies, ecology, and social science, to analyse and interpret data that have a spatial component. Spatial methods involve the use of tools and methodologies to understand spatial patterns, relationships, and processes, often utilising geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, spatial statistics, and spatial modelling.
